What does industry need from government to improve public sector procurement?

With the government’s ambitious building programme, including 1.5M new homes, a wave of new schools and hospitals, and other major infrastructure upgrades, successful procurement must be a key enabler for success.

We’ve had decades of low productivity and inefficient and ineffective procurement, despite many sensible interventions, such as Latham, Egan, and the Construction Playbook. One thing is now certain: if we don’t genuinely change the way we procure, we won’t deliver for our citizens. We simply do not have the capacity and resources to carry on as we have.
